Find out how much money has gone into your game collection — digital or physical — and how much of it is tied up in games you have never got round to playing.

How the calculation works

The maths is simple: library value = number of games × average price per game. Using the share of games you have played, the calculator then sizes your backlog: unplayed games = games × (1 − played share), and their value = total value × (1 − played share).

Inputs are the number of games (up to 20,000), the average price per game in your currency and the share played, in percent. The price field starts at 800 by default, so replace it with your own average. Decide what “played” means for you — launched once or finished — and stick to it.

The easiest way to get a realistic average is your store's purchase history: divide total spend by the number of games. Free giveaways and subscription titles are best counted at zero, otherwise the estimate is inflated.

Worked example

You own 120 games, paid $20 on average, and have played 40% of them. Library value = 120 × $20 = $2,400. Unplayed games = 120 × 0.6 = 72, worth $2,400 × 0.6 = $1,440.

Things to keep in mind

  • This is money spent (or replacement cost at the price you enter), not market value: digital licences generally cannot be resold.
  • If most of your games came from sales and bundles, your real average will be well below list price — use what you actually paid.
  • Physical games do have a resale market, but used prices vary a lot by title and condition; check current listings for an actual resale estimate.
  • The unplayed figure is a handy reality check before the next sale: it shows how much entertainment you have already paid for.

FAQ

How do I find out how much I've spent on games?
Most platforms show a purchase or transaction history in account settings. Add it up and divide by the number of games to get the average price for this calculator.
Should subscription games count?
Only titles you keep permanently. Games available through a subscription are not owned, so leave them out or count them at zero.
Why is the unplayed count rounded?
Games × unplayed share can give a fraction, so the calculator rounds it to a whole number.
