Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data is processed when you use billycalc.com (the "website"), for what purposes and on what legal basis, who receives it and what rights you have. billycalc has no user accounts: all calculators can be used without registration.

1. Who is responsible

The controller responsible for the processing of personal data on this website is Alex Semensky, the owner of billycalc.com ("we", "us"). For any privacy question, write to [email protected] or use the contact form.

2. In short

  • The numbers you enter into calculators are processed only in your browser and are not sent to our server.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4 and Yandex Metrica) are used only if you click "Accept" in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
  • We do not sell personal data, show no ads and do not use advertising cookies.

3. What data we process, why, and on what legal basis

3.1. Technical data when you visit the website

When you open a page, your browser automatically transmits technical data: IP address, date and time of the request, requested address (URL), referring page, browser type and version, operating system and language settings. This data passes through Cloudflare (content delivery network and protection against attacks and abuse) and reaches the servers of our hosting provider. We use it to deliver the website, keep it secure and stable, and diagnose errors.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure and functioning website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3.2. Cloudflare Web Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregated statistics: number of page views, popular pages, referring sites, country, device type and page loading speed. For this, Cloudflare adds a small measurement script to our pages. According to Cloudflare, it does not set cookies, does not use local storage, does not fingerprint visitors and does not track them across websites. As with any page request, Cloudflare receives your IP address (see section 3.1).

This measurement works independently of the cookie banner. We consider it covered by the exemption for audience measurement that is strictly necessary to run a website, which some national rules on access to devices provide: the statistics serve only to measure the audience and performance of billycalc, we see only aggregated figures, they are not combined with other data or used to follow you, and Cloudflare processes the data as our service provider. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in measuring the reach and performance of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time (Art. 21 GDPR), for example by blocking scripts from static.cloudflareinsights.com in your browser or with a content blocker.

3.3. Analytics with your consent: Google Analytics 4 and Yandex Metrica

On your first visit, a cookie banner asks whether you agree to analytics cookies. Only if you click "Accept" do we use:

  • Google Analytics 4 — statistics on pages viewed, events, visit duration, traffic sources, device and browser data and approximate location derived from the IP address, linked to a pseudonymous identifier stored in a cookie.
  • Yandex Metrica — similar statistics, plus a click map, link tracking and Webvisor session replay. Webvisor records how you interact with pages (mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and the page content as displayed) and may also record text and numbers you type into fields, including calculator inputs, so that we can find and fix usability problems. The fields of the contact form are excluded from recording.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, together with the national rules on cookies). If you click "Reject" or make no choice, neither Google Analytics nor Yandex Metrica is loaded: no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google or Yandex. Rejecting has no consequences for using the website — all calculators keep working. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer; both services then stop, also in your other open tabs, and we delete the analytics cookies set on billycalc.com in your browser. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.

Nothing is loaded before you choose. The Google Analytics and Yandex Metrica scripts are added to the page only after you click "Accept". Google Analytics then runs in Google Consent Mode v2 with advertising signals always set to "denied" — there are no ads on billycalc. Google Analytics cookies expire no later than 13 months after your last visit. Calculator widgets embedded on other websites do not load any analytics.

3.4. Contact form and email

If you write to us via the contact form or by email, we process your name, email address, the content of your message and the time it was sent, in order to answer you. Depending on the website configuration, the form is delivered to our mailbox through a form-processing service, or it opens your email program with a pre-filled message. The fields of the form are excluded from Webvisor session recording.

Legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the box in the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), and, where your message concerns cooperation or a request you made, steps taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

3.5. Calculator inputs

All values you enter into calculators are processed exclusively in your browser. They are not sent to our server, and we do not store your calculations. Please note: if you have accepted analytics cookies, Webvisor session replay may record what you type into calculator fields and what is displayed on the page, and transmit this to Yandex. If you do not want this, click "Reject" or change your choice in "Cookie settings".

3.6. Settings stored in your browser

We save your cookie choice and, if you use the language switcher, your chosen language in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This data stays on your device. It is strictly necessary to provide the functions you use; details are in the Cookie Policy.

4. Recipients and service providers

We do not sell or rent personal data. Data is disclosed only to the following providers and only to the extent necessary for the purposes above:

  • Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) — content delivery network, security, Cloudflare Web Analytics.
  • Beget (Russia) — website hosting.
  • Google (Google Ireland Limited for users in the EEA and Switzerland; Google LLC, USA) — Google Analytics 4 (only with your consent; see section 3.3). Google Privacy Policy
  • Yandex LLC (Russia) — Yandex Metrica including Webvisor, only with your consent. Yandex Privacy Policy
  • The form-processing service or email provider that delivers your messages to us.
  • Public authorities — only where we are legally obliged to disclose data.

5. International data transfers

Some recipients are located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), in particular in the USA (Google, Cloudflare) and in Russia (Yandex, hosting provider). For transfers to the USA, these providers rely on safeguards recognised under the GDPR, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Russia is not covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission, so the level of data protection there may be lower than in the EU, including with regard to access by public authorities. Analytics data is sent to Google and Yandex only if you have given your consent in the cookie banner. Because the website is hosted in Russia, the technical request data described in section 3.1 is processed on servers located there.

6. Retention periods

  • Technical logs: for a limited period, according to the log retention settings of Cloudflare and the hosting provider
  • Google Analytics: user- and event-level data for up to 14 months
  • Yandex Metrica (including Webvisor recordings): according to Yandex's data retention rules
  • Messages sent to us: up to 2 years after the last correspondence, unless the law requires longer storage
  • Your cookie choice: 6 months, after which the banner asks you again
  • Chosen language: until you clear your browser data

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your personal data and receive a copy (Art. 15)
  • have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16)
  • have your data erased (Art. 17)
  • restrict processing (Art. 18)
  • data portability (Art. 20)
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21)
  • withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3))
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular your national data protection authority (Art. 77)

To exercise your rights, write to [email protected] with the subject "Privacy request", or use the contact form. We will respond within one month; in complex cases this period may be extended as permitted by the GDPR. We may ask for information to confirm your identity. Analytics data is linked only to pseudonymous cookie identifiers, not to your name or email address, so we may be unable to find it without additional information from you.

If you live outside the EEA, you may have similar rights under your local law. Write to us and we will handle your request in accordance with the applicable law.

8. Automated decisions

We do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.

9. Children

The website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe that a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

All traffic to the website is encrypted via HTTPS. We collect as little data as possible: there are no user accounts or passwords, and access to messages sent to us is restricted. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

11. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our data processing changes, for example when we add or remove a service. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change requires your consent, we will ask for it again via the cookie banner.
