More about: Mortality Probability Model

What it calculates

The “Mortality Probability Model” calculator computes Hospital mortality (MPM0-III) in % from 16 parameters: age (years), full resuscitation status (full code) (1 = yes), medical or unscheduled surgical admission (1 = yes), coma or deep stupor: gcs 3–5 (1 = yes), heart rate ≥150 bpm (1 = yes), systolic bp ≤90 mmhg (1 = yes), chronic renal insufficiency (1 = yes), liver cirrhosis (1 = yes), metastatic neoplasm (1 = yes), acute kidney injury (1 = yes), cardiac dysrhythmia (1 = yes), cerebrovascular incident (stroke) (1 = yes), gastrointestinal bleeding (1 = yes), intracranial mass effect (1 = yes), cpr within 24 h before admission (1 = yes), mechanical ventilation in the first icu hour (1 = yes).

Used by professionals and patients to assess health metrics, dosages, and risks.

Example calculation

With parameters Age = 60 years, Full resuscitation status (full code) (1 = yes) = 1, Medical or unscheduled surgical admission (1 = yes) = 1, Coma or deep stupor: GCS 3–5 (1 = yes) = 0, Heart rate ≥150 bpm (1 = yes) = 0, Systolic BP ≤90 mmHg (1 = yes) = 0, Chronic renal insufficiency (1 = yes) = 0, Liver cirrhosis (1 = yes) = 0, Metastatic neoplasm (1 = yes) = 0, Acute kidney injury (1 = yes) = 0, Cardiac dysrhythmia (1 = yes) = 0, Cerebrovascular incident (stroke) (1 = yes) = 0, Gastrointestinal bleeding (1 = yes) = 0, Intracranial mass effect (1 = yes) = 0, CPR within 24 h before admission (1 = yes) = 0, Mechanical ventilation in the first ICU hour (1 = yes) = 0 the result is 5.04 % (Data from the first ICU hour; first ICU admission, age ≥18 years).

How to use

  1. Enter age, full resuscitation status (full code) (1 = yes), medical or unscheduled surgical admission (1 = yes), coma or deep stupor: gcs 3–5 (1 = yes), heart rate ≥150 bpm (1 = yes), systolic bp ≤90 mmhg (1 = yes), chronic renal insufficiency (1 = yes), liver cirrhosis (1 = yes), metastatic neoplasm (1 = yes), acute kidney injury (1 = yes), cardiac dysrhythmia (1 = yes), cerebrovascular incident (stroke) (1 = yes), gastrointestinal bleeding (1 = yes), intracranial mass effect (1 = yes), cpr within 24 h before admission (1 = yes) and mechanical ventilation in the first icu hour (1 = yes) — each field above is adjustable with a slider.
  2. Hospital mortality (MPM0-III) (%) is calculated automatically as you type.

FAQ

How is BMI calculated?
BMI = weight (kg) / height (m)². Example: 70 kg / (1.75 m)² = 22.9. The WHO normal range is 18.5–24.9; below that is underweight, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30+ is obese.
Is BMI accurate for everyone?
No. BMI does not distinguish muscle from fat, so athletes may show a high BMI with low body fat. It is also less reliable for teenagers, pregnant people, older adults, and very tall or short individuals.
What are the BMI categories?
Underweight: below 18.5. Normal: 18.5–24.9. Overweight: 25–29.9. Obese class I: 30–34.9; class II: 35–39.9; class III: 40+.
What is a better measure than BMI?
Body fat percentage, waist-to-height ratio (aim for under 0.5), and waist circumference give a clearer picture of health than BMI alone.
